The Fire Rises

Update 6/12/2011:  It seems mysterious The Fire Rises YouTube user has canceled his account.  This could mean that Warner Brothers shut him down for attempting mimic the viral campaign.  Either that or it is a really deep viral campaign.  I believe the Twitter account is real since it released the picture of Bane (shown below) that was on the film's official site.

Looking forward to the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises?  Then you should head over to the flim's official site here.  You will find an odd audio clip that sounds like chanting.  I didn't know what to make of it so I started looking on the internet for answers.  What I found was shocking.  It seems embedded inside the audio file was the twitter tag #TheFireRises.

I suggest you follow it for quick updates on the newest viral videos and pictures.  On the twitter page there was a link to the offical site that revealed a picture made up of people Twitter pictures, revealing Tom Hardy as Bane.

There is also a Facebook URL that allows you to like The Fire Rises.

Finally we have four YouTube videos that seem to also be a part of the viral campaign headed by director Christopher Nolan.  These videos are found on none other than The Fire Rises Channel on YouTube.  I breakdown what I can of these videos below.  Nolan is famous for using viral marketing to promote his movie and this time it seems that social networking has become even more involved.

The first video shows that there has been some sort of breakout from Arkham Asylum and Gotham is in disarray.

The second video shows prisoners in orange jumpsuits being pushed around a bit.  Then you see a car to be driving along the tunnels of Gotham (which is actually Chicago)

The third video is pretty wild.  It shows what seems to be a large skyscraper burning and then falling to the ground.  It looks very similar to The Wayne Enterprises building from the previous films.

The final video just shows and ambulance and police cars and someone saying "officer down."

There are some that are saying these videos are not part of the viral campaign.  It would be possible for the twitter account to be started then someone decided to take that name as a YouTube channel and create videos to make it look like they are part of the viral campaign.  Seems like a lot of work to me just for a few YouTube hits.

The Dark Knight Rises won't hit theaters for another year but the promotion will continue to get fans pumped up about the film.  Trust me Mr. Nolan you don't have to hype your movies. I know I will be there opening night.
